Illustrations were done by Liesje Kraai. Rather than use AI, we opted to tell the story the old fashioned way—because the extra work is worth it. These animals are worth it. Liesje built out a style that could translate across all 25 featured animals. We wanted to deliver an adorable yet haunting message: these animals might not be with us forever.
It’s not just a book. It’s the cause.
The future of these animals isn't yet written. There are so many things you can do to help them. That’s why we created a presence on two social platforms. On Instagram, readers are encouraged to follow @g_is_not_for_giraffe, on Bluesky, gisnotforgiraffe.bsky.social. From there, we direct wildlife conservation initiates to where they can do the most impact. Posts feature each endangered animal, then deep dive into what’s happening, what organizations need support, and how you can help in your daily life.
